Music Experience

Recruitment, Web Development

George Mason University Department of Music

For Mason's Oboe Day in 2007, I wrote a press release and sent flyers with an image I created of George Mason playing the oboe.

In December of 2007, I helped manage Mason's exhibitor booth at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Conference, and also represented the Music Department during Midwest's College Nights.

In an effort to recruit Mason oboists and bassoonists, I created business cards as well as a busines page on Facebook.  In addition, I continue to create promotional posters (1-2-3) of my colleagues' upcoming recitals, and maintain a  studio blog.

Performance

Background

I began studying music as a flutist when I was 9 years old. I switched to the oboe in junior high, played the tenor saxophone in my high school's jazz and pep bands, and began bassoon in college. At George Mason, I participated in master classes with T.W. Howarth's Michael Britton and Boston Symphony Orchestra's John Ferrillo.  Some of my most memorable performances have included VMEA's 2007 Conference with the GMU Wind Symphony (oboe), and at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage in 2007 with the GMU Chamber Orchestra (bassoon). My private teachers have included: Heidi Brann, Suzanne Ingold, Grover Schiltz, Douglas Kehlenbrink and Lorrie Berkshire Brown.
