Arts Administration Experience

Media Relations

Doug Wallace Percussion, LLC

I worked to expand DWP's presence on the internet. Based on my knowledge of social networking sites, I shared DWP's educational resources with musicians worldwide.  I also maintained the DWP MySpace and Facebook pages, and administered the blog.

Wolf Trap Foundation

As a Media Relations intern, I contributed to Wolf Trap's MySpace page.  I also added content to press releases about Wolf Trap's upcoming Press Conference at the National Press Club, where the complete calendar of summer concerts was shared.  I also edited and created biographies for playbills of artists performing at the Barns at Wolf Trap.

"Kathy Mattea" (4/18/2007)

Kathy Mattea is known for combining folk, bluegrass, and gospel not only in her singing, but also in her exceptional songwriting.  Mattea says fondly, "After 20 years, I still look forward to going to work every day, whether it's in the studio or on the road. ... That's the barometer for me.  My show is still evolving, and my fellow musicians challenge me to evolve as a singer, writer, player, and performer.  I still feel inspired about music.  I am incredibly blessed." "Vienna Teng" (4/3/2007)

Vienna Teng's passion for singing and songwriting used to simply be a hobby, but once she turned away from her path toward becoming a software engineer to pursue her dreams, she never looked back. (more)

"BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet" (3/21/2007)

BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet is one of the first bands to introduce traditional Cajun music to the world outside of their native Louisiana, and they are regarded as one of the best live acts around.  These musicians take the rich Cajun traditions of Louisiana and artfully blend elements of zydeco, New Orleans jazz, Tex-Mex, country, blues, and more into a satisfying musical recipe.  From the Grand Old Opry to the Newport Folk Festival, from concert hall to dance floor, the music of BeauSoleil continues to captivate audiences all over the world. "Paul Cebar and the Milwaukeeans" (3/4/2007)

Known for his sharp wit and extensive musical knowledge, Milwaukee native Paul Cebar is a seasoned musicians whose talent is accented by the stylings of his cultivated band, the Milwaukeeans.  The Washington Post calls this high-energy pairing "colorfully garbed champions of Afro-Caribbean, Afro-pop, and conjunto music, as well the sounds of New Orleans, Motown, Memphis, New York, and, yes, Milwaukee." Marketing

Fairfax Symphony Orchestra

In April of 2007, The Fairfax Symphony invited oboist John Ferrillo as a guest artist in conjunction with the FSO's 50th Anniversary season.  I sent a letter promoting this performance to a list of over 200 double reed instrumentalists from the DC Metro area that I collected, and this list was used as well to promote another performance featuring a bassoon soloist during the 08-09 season.

I also helped market a master class with Ferrillo held at George Mason University that featured local oboists of all levels, and shared both events on online communities such as Upcoming, the Arts section of Backfence, and the LiveJournal group, doublereeds.

House Management

Center for the Arts

I've worked for George Mason University's Center for the Arts since 2004, and have been a Front of House Supervisor at Mason's Concert Hall since 2007.  I am House Manager for Mason's Harris Theater, TheatreSpace, and Black Box venues.

While I was an usher, I handed out programs, took tickets, and directed patrons before, during, and after performances.

Wolf Trap Nat'l Park for the Performing Arts

I currently volunteer at Wolf Trap's Filene Center as an audience director for 1-3 performances a week.

In 2007, I was a Head Supervisor on the Orchestra Level (House Left), where I managed paid and volunteer ushers during nearly 100 performances.  In 2006, I began as an usher on the Orchestra level (House Right), where I was also a backstage liaison, and was later promoted to Loge and Boxes Supervisor.
